Air lines and random thoughts

Air Tran

I am not very happy with the service. I went to select my seats this evening, I have a ridiculous lay over in Atlanta which is kind of OK because I heard it is the busiest air port in the world and my friend said it is a tough airport to navigate so the time there can be spent in a bar at worst. So back to the seats. They want $20 a seat to hold a left window that isn't a business class upgrade. Kinda ridiculous.

They do carry orange vitamin water which is kind of key. They flight out to Vegas was ok, they didnt hassle me about keeping my ipod in, I was surprised how much it helps with the ear popping.

Alaska Air

This company was great. The planes were brand new, the seats were all leather. The only real problem was they skimped on the drinks, little, very little cups. They were extremely efficient as far as flight check in, bags (which we didn't check but I watched the process). We had to fly in middle seats (a mini vesion of hell) but I got lucky, the kid to my left was having a small panic attack so he was sitting way off to the left and gave me tons of room.

The airport in Seattle was nice and small. We were off of our plane and asking about upgrades at the check out counter within 15 minutes.

Us Airways

by far the best airline I have dealt with. we did have an old plane from Seattle to Phoenix but the customer care was impeccable. In Seattle they took care of our seats for our flight to Miami, we got left window seats on a flight that was about full. When we arrived back to Vegas we hopped on line and found upgrades for the flight out which will be key. Upgrades are usually really cheap and well worth the money. You get unlimited drinks, a free in flight movie and 50% more space. Since we are flying from Vegas to Miami on a red eye it is hard to put a price on comfort but I feel like we are getting a good deal.

A few tips for traveling:

1. If you ever have to fly out of Vegas valet. Parking is $12 a day for overnight long term, Valet is $16. You park right by where you have to go in/come out.

2. Untie your shoes. you have to run them threw a metal detector so it is a pain in the ass to have to untie them and then put them on in line.
