The Strand hotel
The Strand Hotel is located at 11th and Ocean Drive in the heart of South Beach. The rooms are decorated in a beautiful Art Deco motif which is comfortable and beautiful. The best feature of the hotel is the view from the pool. The pool is located on the roof and has a clear view to the ocean. The staff at the Strand was extremely helpful, at check in the clerk at the front desk gave us a ton of information about the hotel and the surrounding area. Instead of a concierge they had a desire specialist, she was very helpful in booking a deep sea fishing trip for us. The bellman was even more helpful. He gave us a tour of the entire property, made sure we had turn down service and offered to come in a fifteen minutes before we woke up to start our coffee. The restaurant/bar was amazing. They served 36 oz mojitos and the food was delicious. The pricing at the restaurant was a bit deceiving, it took a while to figure out what the deals were (when you approach it appears that you are going to pay fast food prices for gourmet food) and even trying to optimize our order our meal was still $150 for 2 people including drinks. They did not have drink prices on the menu and the mojitos were $30 a piece. All and all the Strand gives you a real South Beach feel and was by far the least expensive on Ocean Drive. We found the deal on travel zoo. |
